WILLIAM JACKSON, AIA
Welcome to StudioJackson and thanks for coming to my site.
Studiojackson is a small architecture office located in South Bend, Indiana. I opened my doors in Austin, Texas 2007 with the belief that excellence in design and resource conservation is achievable in all projects, at any scale. Currently, I work both in the Michiana area and back in Texas. The primary focus of my work is residential design and I'm passionate about creating spaces that are uniquely suited to the client. Each and every project receives the same level of personal attention to every detail through all aspects of design and construction. I'm licensed to practice architecture in Indiana, Michigan, and Texas.
I have sixteen years experience in architectural design, with projects ranging from multi-million dollar houses to modest condominium interiors. My work references traditional forms, vernacular, and modern precedents. I believe that when architecture is really good, it maintains a critical understanding of detail and the necessity of thoughtful engagement with site. This results in highly personalized homes that are tailored to a client's way of living.
I also have a background in education. Currently, I'm an adjunct assistant professor teaching Building Information Modeling (BIM) at the University of Notre Dame. What's great about this technology is that it allows me to prototype your project before it is built. I'm able to generate 3D renderings and virtual walk throughs of a proposed design. This helps clients more fully envision their project. Equally important, the technology also facilitates an accurate set of construction documents. Committed to sustainability through architecture, I have frequently taught architecture studios both at the University of Texas at Austin and Georgia Institute of Technology. My education includes a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Formal education also includes a master class in sustainable architecture taught by Pritzker Prize winning architect Glenn Murcutt.
I live in South Bend with my family. My wife Amy is an assistant professor in Sociology at the University of Notre Dame. We have two little kids, Elliott and Lucy. I am also an avid barbecue nut. I love sharing Texas-style barbecue with my friends and family here in the Midwest!
